Geneva, 28 October 2026.
Secro has won the Finance Innovation Award at the Commodities Innovation Awards 2026, organised by Ampersand World and Bilan. The jury recognised our work extending tokenized trade finance to inventory finance: bringing the same security and legal certainty we built for shipping documents to commodities in storage.
Why storage is the weak link
Storage is one of the highest-risk stages in commodity trade. Warehouse receipts and holding certificates still circulate as paper or PDF. They can be duplicated or falsified, and goods can be released without the financing bank knowing.
The industry has paid for this with repeated losses. As a result, banks often discount warehouse collateral and apply higher margins. Traders end up with less financing against inventory that should be among their most secure assets.
From shipment to warehouse, on one platform
Secro already digitises trade documentation for more than 320 companies in 50 countries, starting with tokenized electronic bills of lading. Now we are taking the same infrastructure into storage.
Banks and traders can issue, pledge, transfer, split and cancel Tokenized Warehouse Receipts and Holding Certificates as legally valid and enforceable digital titles. They are recognised under Swiss, UK, Singapore, US and French law.
Each instrument is a unique, cryptographically sealed original, held by the pledgee bank. Together with tokenized eBLs and our trade finance workflows, this covers the full cycle end to end, on a single immutable audit trail and without any break in custody.
What it changes for banks and traders
- Lower risk: double issuance becomes impossible, and no pledged goods are released without explicit on-chain approval.
- Speed: partial releases take under 30 seconds instead of three to five days.
- Real-time collateral management: collateral tracking and confirmations move to API integrations.
- Stronger financing: better-secured collateral opens the door to higher financing levels for traders’ inventory.
- Easier compliance: a cryptographic audit trail reduces friction across jurisdictions.
The solution is open: any bank or trader can use it. It is not owned by a single bank or trading house.
What the jury said
The jury noted that while tokenization in commodities is not new, securing title to inventory through tamper-proof documentation is. They called it a genuine innovation for the sector.
They also highlighted that the platform is open to any company or bank, and that better-secured collateral will allow traders to request higher financing for their stocks, an important step forward for the industry.

“Every week we hear from banks and traders that warehouse collateral is where trust breaks down. This award recognises what our clients have been asking for: inventory that can be financed with the same confidence as a shipment under a tokenized eBL. We’re proud to receive it in Geneva, at the heart of commodity trading, and even prouder of the team that built it.”
Laetitia, Director of Sales, Secro
What’s next
The inventory finance solution is currently in its pilot phase with banking and trading partners. The same protocol that issues tokenized eBLs and warehouse receipts today is built to extend to receivables, repos and secondary collateral transfers.
Thank you
This award belongs to the entire Secro team. Every release, every integration and every client conversation led here. Andrew, Pascal and Laetitia were proud to bring the trophy home from Geneva.
Thank you to the jury, to Ampersand World and Bilan for championing innovation in our industry, and to every client and partner who trusts Secro every day. Congratulations as well to all the other winners and finalists.
