OUR STORY

“There must be a better way.” This was the thought shared by three maritime industry veterans back in 2016, when Michele Sancricca, Luke Zadkovich and Ed Floyd started to work together on the back-of-the-envelope concept at the core of Secro's technology and legal engineering. Their idea was truly innovative to the point of anticipating today's legal reforms and industry imperatives.

In 2021, after the Singapore Electronic Transaction Act was passed, the three assembled a global team of experts in maritime, cloud technology, supply chain management, international trade & maritime law, SaaS start-up, finance & banking, and digital strategy – Secro was born.

Secro’s approach was a novel one that challenged assumptions at the core of e-BL.

What we were saying was ‘the world is not flat.’ That there was a different route to developing the global adoption of e-BL. A way that is legally robust and that represents an improved customer experience. A better way.

The simplicity and intuitiveness of the platform speaks for itself. As we focus our time and resources on our customers, our goal remains the optimization of efficiency, the protection of confidentiality and the establishment of trust to facilitate cross-border commerce and financial transactions.

Where the Secro name is coming from?

The name Secro is a contraction of the words security and escrow. Our founders decided to adopt this as a name prior to incorporating the company. This was in our early days, when we were assessing the best way to improve cross-border transactions.

We understood that developing a technology around the concept of digital security (such as a non-fungible tokens) and the concept of escrow (in the form of digital wallets and condition-based workflows) would enable unprecedented capabilities for handling documents of title and removing friction between trading partners.

To date, our trajectory has been fast paced. From our inception in 2017, we have quickly gone on to become a leader in cross border trade digitalization. Looking ahead, we have an ambitious agenda to expand our service portfolio and grow our business across multiple sectors.
